Director’s Notes

It’s been a gift to work in collaboration with Chris Rayis in creating a new version of this production unique to our Elon students. What a thrilling process, creating new work and bringing to life what’s on the page for the first time with this incredible cast of curious, brave, and talented students! I dedicate my work on this project to the “Walt” in my life, the late Kenneth Houston. Thank you for guiding me all these years.

Alexandra Joye Warren

Alexandra Joye Warren is the Founding Artistic Director of JOYEMOVEMENT dance and an Assistant Professor of Music Theatre program at Elon University. She was recently selected as a Artist-In-Residence for Creative Greensboro and the North Carolina Dance Festival. Alexandra has completed post-graduate studies at the Yale Summer Directing Intensive, Leadership Initiative Project for Emerging Directors, and at Germaine Acogny’s L’Ecole De Sables in Senegal. She is a contributing author in the newly released book Dance in Musical Theatre: A History of the Body in Movement. Recent projects include Love Notes (Artistic Director and Choreographer) and A Wicked Silence: A Choreoplay (Playwright, Director, Choreographer).

Sarah Kay Adams

Sarah Kay is now a senior, here at Elon, as a double major in Arts Administration and Theatre Design/Technology with a concentration in sound and lighting. Her recent credits include A3 for Illinois at The Fisher Center at Bard, Sound Designer for Concord Floral as well as Spring Awakening here at Elon and Sound Designer/Audio Engineer at the Bigfork Summer Playhouse for Guys and Dolls, Mamma Mia, and more. Sarah has worked in theaters and performing arts centers from CA to NY. Sarah is so proud of her work as sound designer for this show she hopes you enjoy.

Natalie Taylor Hart

Natalie Taylor Hart is a Scenic Designer and the Associate Chair of Performing Arts at Elon University. Brooks Andrew

Brooks is currently a Senior Music Theatre major at Elon and is looking forward to graduation and moving to NYC. His past favorite roles include Prince Topher (Cinderella, Wagon Wheel Center For The Arts), Robert Kincaid (The Bridges of Madison County, Elon University). Brooks looks forward to returning to Wagon Wheel Center For The Arts this summer to play the role of Prince Eric in Disney's The Little Mermaid. Jacob Atkins

Jacob Atkins is thrilled to be making his main stage debut here at Elon University. He will be portraying the role of a “Muse” and couldn’t be more excited! You could find Jacob this past summer working at Highlands Playhouse where he played “Joe Pesci” and Understudied “Franki Valli” in Jersey Boys! Some interesting facts about Jacob are he only eats fries in 2’s, and he is a Marvel Enthusiast! Special shout out to his Mom, Dad, Aunt Lisa, and Belle Noel. @Thejacobatkins

Caroline Borio

Caroline is thrilled to be performing in her fourth and final Grand Night! She would like to congratulate her class on all their successes, and she is excited to finish out this year with them. After graduation, Caroline will join the Wisconsin Shakespeare Festival playing Juliet in Romeo and Juliet. Some of her favorite roles from her time at Elon include Wendla in Spring Awakening and Olive in 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. She would like to thank all of her professors, Allison and Dana, Mom and Dad for their support, and Trevor. Enjoy the show!

Charlie Castro

Charlie Castro is a junior musical theatre major. He is a Miami, Florida native. He is incredibly excited to be working on the music team and to be playing live instruments for the show! He wants to thank his family and friends for their constant support in all of his artistic endeavors!

Kyra Britt

Kyra Britt is excited to be an assistant Music Director for A Chorus Line. She has enjoyed working on such a phenomenal production, and is thankful for the cast, crew, and creative team for making that possible. Special thanks to Chris Rayis, and Hashini for supporting her in this endeavor.

Micah Day

Micah Day is a Junior Musical Theatre major at Elon University and could not be more excited to get this show up and running! He was last seen this summer in Label•Less: A New Musical (Cast Member) in Cincinnati, Ohio, where he was born and raised! MK is stoked for her final Grand Night at Elon! Peyton Otis is so grateful to be Stage Managing her third mainstage production at Elon University! Summer Severin

Summer is so thrilled to be performing in her third Grand Night! She would like to thank her entire cast of Hot Lunch Jam for going with all of her crazy ideas and for working so hard to make it all come together. She can't wait for her mom and brother to experience their first Elon Grand Night!

Mallorie Sievert

Mallorie is a senior Music Theatre major with a math minor in the Honors Fellows program. She was a 2020 National YoungArts Finalist and 2020 US Presidential Scholar in the Arts, and she could most recently be seen as Carole King in Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, the Dragon in Shrek the Musical, and Marian in The Bridges of Madison County. She’s so excited for everything her senior year has to bring, and she hopes you enjoy the show!

Sujaya Sunkara

Sujaya Sunkara is a graduating senior BFA Music Theatre major from Cincinnati, OH and she is so blessed to have Deep Water Ballad be the show to close out her Elon career. She was most recently seen as the Baker’s Wife in Into the Woods here at Elon and Gabrielle in Cinderella  at Shenandoah Summer Music Theatre. Sujaya would like to thank her friends, family, her dog Turk, for everything they have given her. Last one!

Emily Stober

Emily is a junior from Hickory, North Carolina and has just returned from a wonderful semester abroad in London. She was last seen in Deep Water Ballad (Hill Child/Tonya) at Elon University. Emily is very thankful to be beginning the year singing and dancing with her friends in A Chorus Line.

Campy Rodriguez

Campy Rodriguez (Al) is from Brownsville, Texas and is ecstatic to be part of A Chorus Line! He was most recently seen in Spring Awakening this past fall as Melchior Gabor at Elon University. Regional theatre credits include: Escapologist Matilda, Marty Madagascar A Musical Adventure, Norm Lewis/Hal Miller/Others Jersey Boys, Ensemble Spamalot, and Ancestor/Gomez us The Addams Family. He is currently a sophomore at Elon University and is pursuing a BFA in Music Theatre and a minor in Leadership Studies. Campy would like to thank his mom and dad for constantly encouraging him to follow his passion!

Nate Krohmer

Nate is excited to be in his first Shakespeare show ever! He is a proud member of Elon Musical Theatre’s class of 2026 and was seen in Spring Awakening this fall as Ernst. He wants to thank his family and his fellow forest lords Lauren and Kav for their love. Enjoy the show.

Gabriel Logan

Gabriel is so excited to be doing another show on the McCrary Stage! Recent credits include A Little Night Music at Barrington Stage Company, Mary Poppins at North Carolina Theater, A Christmas Carol at The Goodman Theater, and Mamma Mia! at Winnipesaukee Playhouse. Gabriel is currently a Junior in the Music Theatre Program and would like to thank Brian Carter, Nina Wheeler, Gulshirin Dubash, Chris Rayis, Professor Liu, Jane Lanier, and his friends and family.

Douglas Waterbury-Tieman

Douglas Waterbury-Tieman is an actor, musician and writer living in Franklin, TN. He received his BM in Musical Theatre at Belmont University. Performance Credits include: Off-Broadway; The Robber Bridegroom, Soot and Spit. Regional; Once, Cotton Patch Gospel, Fiddler On The Roof. TV; Succession. Fiddle for Clint Black’s Looking For Christmas and aboard the cruise ship The Disney Magic. Member of The Lobbyists, whose Off-Broadway production Seawife was nominated for a Drama Desk Award for Best Music and appeared in the 2019 National Alliance of Musical Theatre Festival. Featured at Goodspeed's Festival of New Musicals in 2019 as a recipient of the Frank Young Fund grant for his musical Johnny & The Devil's Box which received an award winning run at the Cumberland Co. Playhouse in 2022. He has collaborated with Chris Rayis on two projects; Deep Water Ballad featured in Penn State's Nu Musical Theatre Festival and Jenny and the Paper Pirates commissioned by The American School in Switzerland. Transcriber of Dreams

Transcriber of Dreams (Producer) produces the theatrical work of Chris Rayis over a variety of media, including the 2021 album Transcriber of Dreams, the 2022 showcase of Deep Water Ballad and Natalie/Natasha, and this workshop production of Deep Water Ballad.

Ben Laxton

Ben is thrilled to be at Elon University for this production of Deep Water Ballad. He is currently an understudy for Elder Price and Joseph Smith in Book of Mormon on Broadway where he shares the stage with a couple recent Elon alums. Favorite credits include Chess (Actors Entertainment Fund), Catch Me… (1st. National Tour), Crazy For You (Riverside Theatre), and Next to Normal (Playhouse on the Square). Gabe Tobierre

Gabe Tobierre is a sophomore Music Theatre Major and is so thrilled to be back for Collage! He worked this summer at the New London Barn Playhouse in Guys & Dolls, Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, and The Wedding Singer. He can next be seen as a part of this year's fall play: John Proctor is the Villain which runs October 6-10 in Roberts Studio Theatre! He hopes you have a grand ole' time watching this years version of Collage!

Jakov Schwartzberg

Jakov Schwartzberg (He/Him) is both excited and sad to be performing in his final main stage production at Elon University. Recent credits include: Into The Woods (The Baker), Guys and Dolls (Nathan Detroit), Freaky Friday (Mike), The Elephant Man (Dr. Treves). He has also spent his time at Elon gaining experience behind the table serving as the music director for last spring’s student produced production of The 25th Annual ... Spelling Bee as well as associate director for Elon’s main stage production of The Bridges of Madison County this past February. Enjoy the show!
